I am also thankful for all the things you mentioned. We are very blessed to live in this day of modern conveniences. The human condition has been a rather dismal when viewed throughout history of man. We live in mansions and royal palaces complete with servants (dishwashers, washing machines, microwave ovens, etc.) compared to what humankind has historically lived in.
Consider as well that many of us would have already died. Unsolved diseases, wars, and the general hardships of live would have already taken some of us not to mention our children. We are fortunate beyond our comprehension and think seldom of our good fortune.
I've created a simple analysis of every day: any day that Nick does not have a headache and hangs in there coupled with me not overeating and getting a bit of exercise is a glorious day!
I have used Alan's 100 year rule quite often since he counseled it. It has helped me make some good choices.
I believe the rule that Doug is talking about is in reference to my post titled "The 10,000-year Question." It is in the November archives (scroll down and look on the left on the main page).

Doug, Remind me what Alans 100 year rule is again.
Teresa, by indoor plumbing are you referring to \\indoor plumbing\\ or the lack of enemas as we all get older.
I am thankful for all that was mentioned above and more than I can list here.

Indoor plumbing, like inside the house or a building. As of yet, ennemas are not a need of mine, nore do I want them to be!
