Do I understand this right? President Obama wants to raise the debt sealing so that he can keep spending? After all the complaining that "the people" have been doing about too much spending in Washington, isn't he just ruining his chances for re-election by doing exactly the opposite. You would think he would be trying to cut the spending, not raise the debt sealing so that he can spend more. Or am I understanding this issue incorrectly?

Obama is an ideologue. Everything that he does is based on that ideology. I had hoped that the realities of the presidency would open his eyes a bit, but it hasn't so far. So I am afraid (literally so as well) that he and most of the Democrat leadership either a) do no understand our dire situation, b) do understand, but adopting any Republican position is too much for their pride, or c) do understand and their goal is to destroy the free market and build a socialist system. If fear Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri had it right when he said "liberalism is a hatred of God and believes that Government should replace God." He apologized after a firestorm of protest, but I think he may have hit close to the target. I used to think a) above, then I migrated to b), but now I am closer to c).
That should spark a discussion, if anyone was participating in this page anymore!
I think it's both B and C. They don't want to be told by any republican that they are heading the wrong direction, and I think there is good number of liberals that want to follow Obama and build a socialist system. Many would rather self destruct than admit the republicans and "the people" warned them and might have it right.
