Flossie Wortham

Does anyone have any information on a Flossie Myrtie Wortham? Born 17 May 1896 Legate, TN. She is the daughter of James Kelly Wortham (B:6 Aug 1854 D: 18 Dec 1910 in Clarkesville, TN) and Mary Jane McGinnes (B:31 Mar 1856 D: 21 Aug 1921) in Lovell, Big Horn, WY).

I am looking for a common thread with a brother of the Canton ward in my stake. He is the son of Eleazer Hatch Asay and Flossie Myrtie Wortham. Eleazer and Flossie have six sons all given the middle name of Wortham.

The fact that Flossie spent a significant amount of time in the Wyoming area leads me to believe there is some thread somewhere since Dad comes from the Worland area just 70 miles south of Lovell.

Do you have your "The Wortham Connection?" Look on page 53 in the section title Wortham Cemeteries. There is a reference to a "James F. Wortham" who could be James Kelly Wortham's father. That is mere conjecture, but it's a place to start.

Unfamiliar with "The Wortham Connection." Are we all supposed to have this book?

Written by Bill Wortham. I can't remember how he is related to us, but I think it is very distant. Anyway, Bill wrote a very nice book and thoroughly researched for the time (pre-Internet, I believe). Grandpa Wortham acquired copies for everyone who wanted one. I think it cost me $10 or so. It's a copyrighted work, but 'fair use' rules allows minimal copying for educational purposes. I will work on posting a book review.

I would think that I have one somewhere then. I will look in cedar chests etc.

Our Wortham line migrated from Nelson Co., KY. and previously from Meddlesex Co., VA. We would need to find out who the father of Kames Kelly Wortham is to see if they came from VA. also. It's getting late but let me check a couple of things out. (I have NO record of Flossie Myrtle nor James Kelly Wortham in my family records.
