Do you really want an answer?

I know that we post questions on this blog and sometimes we may be surprised at the answers that we receive. My advice is don't ask any question you don't want an answer to.

I think the discussions here have been healthy. Questions that are posed start such healthy discussions, and I think that is a good thing. I have been surprised, delighted, and disappointed, but overall enlightened overall by the various opinions. If the topic is about politics or religion, one is going to get a unique opinion from everyone, even among the like-minded Mormons. Even if it's an opinion I don't agree with, I want to hear it. I am not aggrieved if everyone doesn't agree with me. I have often reflected on my own position and wondered if it needed modification.

Thats a great clip Brian. I'm going to use it with my students in class. By the way, what do you suppose was in the box that Tom Hankes held onto while he was stranded? Since he dopped the packet off to a person who was in the welding business, I think it was a flint fire starter that they use to fire up the welding torches.

I agree...keep asking the questions...I love the family discussions. I didn't mean the clip to suggest we shouldn't ask questions....on the contrary...keep them comming.

Brian, I can't see your clips on this page or on your own. I see no link or anything, even in the title.

I thought it was a very funny clip...and if it were me with the FedEx box...I would have opened them all!

The blog has reconnected me with the family. It has been invaluable. I have gained insights into who we have all become, how we think, and often times why we are who we are.

Regardless of opinions, encountering contrary opinions can be very productive as Alan says. An example. After reading conservative thought including that of my family, national blogs, and certain newscasts, I am no longer in favor of national single payer health care. I have changed my mind on that aspect of progressive health care thought.

I like the idea of two blogs: a true discussion blog and a family news blog.

I just want to reiterate that I posted this clip because it was funny and not because I think people ask questions they shouldn't. I guess I should have just captioned this clip with "Oops, I could have had a V-8!"

I really enjoy the questions posted.

I'm sorry. I misunderstood Brian's post because I couldn't see the video clip. I am still working on that problem. I think Doug's suggestion to split the blog into a family news blog and a discussion blog is a good idea. I have a deadline or two to meet, but I will try to set it up when I have a chance, unless someone else would like to do it.
