Some time after we get home, we will purchase a car. We enjoyed the Odyssey but it is not an economical car. What do you think about the Hybrids? We do not want to spend over $20,000. So, Dad says that a good used car about 1 or 2 years old would be fine too. What are your thoughts? M

If you like the Honda Odyssy feel, why not look at a medium sized Honda that has a very similar feel to the Odyssy. I think the Honda CR-V (or something like that) is a lot of fun to drive and has the same great Odyssy feel to it.
The CR-V does not have a very good gas mileage.
It is 20 on the road and 16 on the highway....certainly better than the Odyssy and most definately better than a large SUV. So in those cases, you would be improving on what you had and still get the great room and feel that Honda has to offer.
I meant to write 20 on the raod and 26 on the highway.
Honestly, I would recommend a Toyota Prius for just the two of you. I doubt you would ever have passengers and even if you did it does have a back seat. I know you probably want something like a smaller minivan but those Prius Hybrids can get up to 50 miles a gallon and because you don't do alot of long distance driving, it would be great for the two of you in town! I've ridden in one and it was fairly comfortable.
Hybrids get great mileage in town where you do a lot of braking and starting, but on the highway they are not different than any other car.
Regenerative braking only works when there is a lot of braking. Of course, if your hybrid runs on uranium, then that is a different story.
Well, I can speak from experience since I have a 2008 Prius. We get between 48 - 52 mpg. We took ours to Texas for Christmas and got 48 mpg. Up in Washington, at one point we had driven 5000 miles and averaged over 52 mpg. It is a solid little car that is really fun to drive.
Dean forgot to mention that his car runs on uranium. :)
How do you know where buy Uranium when you are traveling?
One uranium pack come with the purchase of the vehicle. Being that it is uranium, you never need a uranium refill again.
Uranium, isn't that what the grandma yelled when her husband hit a pedestrian while driving their Prius?
