Veteran's day recognition

Just a note to recognize our brother Kim on this Veteran's day to honor him for his wartime service. Thank you for your sacrifices to serve our country. I am very proud of you. Of course, I am very proud of Dad too for his many years of honorable service in the Military. Thanks to you both.

Thanks for thinking of us. I'm just happy that I am still able to serve.

Yes, kudos to our father and Kim for their years of service. We have two nephews (maybe more?) who will soon be entering the service.

Thanks to both of them and also a shout out to Deric who spent several years himself in the Naval Reserves. Thanks to all of you. Small or large all your time spent in the services are appreciated. Ryan, our son, also spent 5 years in the Navy....four years on the USS John C. Stennis.

I was going to mention Ryan serving also. We, as a family, have been lucky that we have not had to lose anyone close to us as a family due to war. We should count our blessings.

I had forgotten about Ryan and don't remember Deric's service at all. Where was I? Deric, catch me up on years, what you did etc.!

I'm not sure but I think the Naval Reserves is where they keep all the spare belly buttons. Deric was in the supply field and was in charge of handing out spare belly buttons.

I was in the U.S. Naval Reserves (same as a Guard Unit). Our unit was based out of Alameda Naval Station in Oakland, CA. That is where we would go and do our two weeks active duty and our weekend drills. We would fly out Friday night and come home Sunday nights. I was in Supply outfitting requisitions that ships coming back would need before they ship out again. I was in from 1994 through 2000. When I went out there I would often drive up and visit Fabienne. They eventually closed the base and I did not re-up my enlistment. I did attend APG (Advanced Pay Grade) school in New Orleans for two weeks on one of my two weeks active duty. So, although I don't get the recognition, I did serve and I feel honored to have served.

Thank you, Deric for both cathing me up on something I was unaware of and for serving!

I'm a bit late, but Bryce is currently serving in the US Army in Fort Campbell. We are very proud of him! ( Bryce is Christine's husband)
