Now this ought to put to bed any notion that President Obama - born in Hawaii- is not an American citizen born in the United States of America! The extreme right wing wackos have been persistently spreading the nonsense that Obama was not born on American soil and therefore is president illegally.

Wackos wacked!
President Obama met with President Monson and Elder Oaks in the White House recently. The two LDS leaders presented him with a beautiful volume detailing President Obama's genealogy. The extreme right wing wackos have been persistently spreading the nonsense that Obama was not born on American soil and therefore is president illegally.

What a great photo! I heard there is a small group of wackos using up our precious air on trying to disprove that he isn't American. Rediculous and a waste of time.
I certainly don't subscribe to that wacky theory, but it should be noted that genealogical records are not necessarily always correct, even when presented to the POTUS by the POCOJCOLDS.
Why do people even worry about this? Although I don't like his policies and I feel America made a mistake, he is the democratically elected President and we have to respect him in that office.
Besides, this is nothing new. LDS Presidents have ALWAYS met with the U.S. President after he has been elected. This particular meeting was arranged and attended by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), also a faithful member of the church. This didn't get any news attention because it jsut isn't "news". "News" is something just that...new. Therefore, don't be surprised by this meeting...its just tradition.
I think Doug is not saying that the meeting is surprising. He is saying the the genealogy contains proof of his citizenship and that the wackos have been whacked.

Alan is right, I was not at all surprised and I am aware that it is tradition.
It is important to squelch wackos because they are the fringe elements of both parties that suck time, energy and good will out of the public square.
This has never been a problem for me...the citizenship of Obama. I think the best way to squelch wackos on any subject is just to ignore them and not give them air time. Whenever I see an article or news broadcast from Al Sharpton I just turn the channel or page.
I often do the same, but sometimes I try to figure out why it persists as this one is continuing to do.
Some people just like to be in the lime light...they don't seem to care if it is negative or positive light....they just want to be in it! Go towards the light!
