2010 World Cup Soccer

Actually, I hate soccer. It's about as exciting to watch as polo, or some such sport.
However, I know the rest of the world is soccer crazy. It is even growing in popularity in the US. For you non-Utah people, Real Salt Lake even won the US national championship this year.
However, when it comes to World Cup Soccer, I find myself watching despite my loathing of the sport. Here are the just-released group drawings for next years cup. Some are saying that the USA got a good draw. Beats me. I have no idea, but I do love to cheer for the underdog.

Group A -- South Africa, Mexico, Uruquay, France
Group B -- Argentina, South Korea, Nigeria, Greece
Group C -- England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia
Group D -- Germany, Australia, Ghana, Serbia
Group E -- Holland, Japan, Cameroon, Denmark
Group F -- Italy, New Zealand, Paraguay, Slovakia
Group G -- Brazil, South Korea, Ivory Coast, Portugal
Group H -- Spain, Honduras, Chile, Switzerland

I love watching soccer! I don't follow the sport so much, as I just love to watch when I see a game on...or when my kids are watching. Jeshua's favorite team is Manchester....he loves the sport.

I like the sport okay. Not my favorite. I would say my sports to watch are 1) Football 2)Auto Racing 3)Baseball or Soccer (tied). Curling comes in somewhere around #13 or #14 just above hockey.

Football, Baseball, Golf, NASCAR, Futbol. I play the first three. Turkey Bowl I threw for two TD's and caught the game winning TD on a 50 yard bomb. Played well. I just umpired the last tournament of the year and finished behind the plate in the Championship game...I did well...all good calls. Golf I am still struggling to break 100! I am really bad...but I try.

Football and ice hockey for me...my interest in basketball has really waned, I used to play that endlessly, but my knees no longer allow for that kind of action. Doctor said to drop it completely.

Times have changed a bit, my students at school are really into soccer and were all on line at 10 am last Friday to learn the pairings. They chat about it constantly...when Real Sandy, err, Salt Lake won the MLS cup, they were all wearing jerseys and hanging their jerseys from their lockers.

In French class, we followed the draws quiet carefully wanting to know who those 'cheating' French had drawn. I projected in FRench the results via my Smart Board and we went through the names of all the countries...a good spontaneous geo lesson in French.
