Obama's Speech

I thought Obama's speech was very well done and did a lot for his image. He is definately a great orator. Two observations though...

1) Is he trying to eat the whole elephant at once? Our Nations problems make a pretty big battle to fight all at once.

2) What kind of 5 alarm chile did Nancy Palosi eat to make her keep catepulting out of her chair like that. She looked like a broken whack-a-mole machine where the mole kept popping up from the same location. She was obviously gushing over the new "rock star" President. She made quite a fool of herself.

What do you all think?

I have been taking some time off from work (except classes, of course), reading, and watching the news so as to get away from all the stress, so I must admit that I didn't even know that Obama gave a major speech. Regarding Kim's points:
1. Obama has over promised about almost everything. Some are already noticing that he is a disappointment to their particular cause. I think such a trend will continue. I knew he and the Democrats would overreach, but I didn't think they would do it so fast against popular opinion about their porkulus bill. Midterm elections should be interesting next year.

2. Pelosi has always been a bit of a clown in my opinion.

I didn't see the speech either...but I too have noticed about Pelosi on other occasions, just with her facial expressions. It's as if she is Anttention Deficit and can't hold a pose or a face but for a fleeting moment. It's odd. Maybe in reality she is jittery when the cameras are rolling and she knows she is being seen by millions.

Pelosi jittery when being seen by millions? Nah, not her. She loves it. No politician at that level can convince me that they do not have a big ego. I'm sure that she is very self-impressed. But hey, male or female, most of them are. They probably have to be to survive in that world.

The speech did not get particularly good or bad reviews. I have listened as I did chores and corrected homework. However, I did stop to listen to the rebuttal speech by the Republican governor of Louisiana. The poor guy sounded like a simpleton and childish almost. His comments and delivery were roundly panned by the all. I happened to watch on Fox and they didn't have much nice to say about it either.

So far, President Obama has not disappointed me at all and I do expect to be disappointed from time to time as I would be with any president. Have the Dems overshot? Way too early to tell.

I agree with Dougs comment about Jindel (sp). I have always thought he comes across as inexperienced, childish, and leaving me to wonder how he got to be a govenor.

Jindal is a rising star, but you have to admit that it is difficult to rebut a fine speaker like Obama (when he has a prepared text), especially during the first 100 days when presidents are traditionally given a lot of leeway.

More like a shooting star. Did you hear his speech, the delivery was dismal. The Republicans have a host of talented folks to choose from, why him on national TV representing them?

Well I like Jindal because he speaks my language. Some of us arn't the sophisticated speakers or listeners. I like to hear it plain and simple with no fluff. Most fluff is usually a makeover for promises that can't be fulfilled. Polititions talk fluff all the time! Drives me crazy.
