Many of us stated that we were enjoying the email discussion we were having, but the minute I set up a website for such a purpose, everyone goes silent and all I hear is the chirping of crickets.
Maybe I should write something very controversial so as to rekindle the discussion.
One aspect of our family is that we are so afraid of hurting someone's feelings that we are reluctant to give an opinion.
Consider the housing crisis.
It is thought by many that home mortgage lenders are guilty of handing out loans to people who had no business receiving them, preying on the little guy by charging high fees and interest.
That may be true, but it is not widely known that just a few years ago Congress pushed the industry to ease the requirements for a mortgage. Lenders did so, and now Congress complains that the industry is using bad judgment or is preying the little guy. It is a repeating pattern of our Congress to push a policy and then blame an industry for the result of that bad policy.
Oil is another example. Congress (mostly Democrats) blame big oil for the high gas prices. Congress routinely subpoenas oil executives for show and calls for investigations of gouging, but nothing is ever proven. In other words, the Democrats block drilling, block nuclear power plants, block the construction of refineries, restrict the production of coal, and otherwise obstruct the production of energy. When prices rise because of low supply, they blame the oil companies.
It's like banning the production of apples and then complaining that apple sauce costs so much.

Alan, you hit the nail on the head on both subjects....crickets and energy.
I think the two go hand in hand. Now that you set up this wonderful blog site and the supply of information and ideas are readily available the demand for such is low. I guess the same holds true for the free exchange of ideas as goes for the energy situation.
I thank you for the blog and have looked at it often hoping to see new postings.
Here another subject. I believe in UFOS, Sasquatch, not Loc Ness, and Ghosts to some extent.
I have been really busy. Worked all day, made dinner. Now that I have a minute. I created an account and here I am.
RE: Housing and Fuel. I agree with you Alan. What we really need is for the Goverment to butt out of every little thing. People need to be held accountable for making their choices, good or bad, if it is bad, the Gov. should stay out of it. Remember that the Gov. hand out is paid by all of us hard working people. They call it taxes. I sometimes call it blackmail.
I am the anonymous that replied to Crickets. I am still new at this
Yes it is blackmail, some like the term wealth-redistribution.
I don't like to talk politics much... but Doug does. I just like the good old gossip!
