Tone down Hope

With the elections over I accept the results. I just heard this from an Obama campaign manager on the radio. I do not recall who it was so you will just have to take my word for it but I assure you this is as near a quote as I can get.

"We won on Hope! We won on the message of Hope! Now we are tasked with the need to control the hope and expectations."

Less than twelve hours after the victory and the back peddling has started.

When you promise someone the moon and all they wind up with is cheese, disappointment is inevitable. It's too late for the Dems on that count. They built up such a big expectations of the perfect world to come that they will inevitably fall short, and this time they won't have the Republicans to blame it on. No doubt they will find someone to blame it on (conservative radio talk show hosts, for example). Their failures are never their fault.

I actually heard some thing similar on the news today. A commentator was worried about how Obama will actually be able to realize all the expectations that the nation now has on him. What a daunting task.

Obama will do just fine. Give the poor guy a chance!

I've been reading the blogs and the discussion between siblings. It is refreshing to see there is still love, even if not seeing eye to eye on all of the topics.

I was wondering when Aloma was going to show up! Welcome to the show!

I heard it again on CNN. The commentator said "Obama is now the President Elect, and now must spend much effort trying to LOW EXPECTATIONS."!

Leonardo and I just looked at each other very puzzled. Of course I will give the man a chance like Fabienne said, but now the liberal media is trying to help him along by backpeddling for him because it seems unrealistic that he could really fulfil all those promises. I am not beating the guy up, I just find it very odd! Campaign and promise everyone huge change, then get elected and ask everyone to lower expectations. Somethings wrong with that picture.

I have every intention of giving him a chance. But I am also cautious. I can say that this election has made me very aware of what is said and not said by the candidates and their serogates (sp).
