I would invite you all to read the following article by Orson Scott Card.
"Would the Last Honest Reporter Please Turn On the Lights?"
The article is a reprint on Meridian, which is not a church-sponsored web site, but it has wide LDS readership. The original article is on his website "The Ornery American."
For those of you who don't know Orson Card, he is a very well-known Sci Fi writer. He wrote "Ender's Game" and a bunch of other sequels. I love to read Sci Fi and Card is one of my favorites. He also happens to be a Democrat and LDS, but it seems that he is growing frustrated with the direction of the Democrat Party as a whole, although I think he still believes in many of the Dem Party's basic tenets.
